They are and i think when I get their heavy wool Irish National, imma pick up a thrifty of the same for the truck.

My Thrifty is Irish National. I bought it to wear on St. Patrick's day a few years ago with the thought that if someone should upchuck on it, I could easily wash it, and at the price, I wouldn't worry about it.

awsome idea ;)
I saw a garbage knock-off Irish national tartan skirt being sold as a st. patties day kilt costume at a party supply for 19.99. no aprons pleated all around. Sadly, i liked the material and the tartan, but there wasn't enough material to redo it right. And for a couple bucks mor you can get a thrifty Irish National, twice the durability, and it actually looks and is right.

P.S. if there's a fella throwing up on st. patties day he is probably a pretender ;)

Just 20 for my wool Botk Kilt?

Pops, call Rocky and ask him. I think he wants to get his hands on one anyway, he may offer you more. Let him know we chatted ;-)

Seanachie:

I don't think that the term "kick pleat" belongs here.
A kick pleat is a vented slit in the hem of a ladies skirt to help mil-lady walk with less restriction from the skirt.

The term I think that applies here is "Reverse (Final) Pleat".
The reverse pleat is not found on inexpensive kilts.
I did a bit of searching around for a photo or image of what the reverse pleat looks like.
The best I could come up with was from the SWK Irish National Tartan Standard kilt:

http://www.stillwate...WK-SK-IN06A.jpg

Look very closely where the left apron fastens on the right hip.
Notice the gap where the knife pleats end on the left of the gap and the fringed edge begins on the right of the gap.
Just to the left of that fringed edge in the gap you will see the reverse pleat peeking out from under the apron.

The purpose of the reverse pleat is give ease in wearing the kilt similiar to the ladies kick pleat.
It allows for a longer stride in walking or marching.

Hope this muddies up the clarity of the explanation. LOL

Somehow I missed this reply yesterday, sorry. Many thanks for this explanation. I have seen other threads referencing the kick pleat as well so I appreciate the education RM.
