Right on Gopher! I have been doing as many activities as possible kilted, but have not yet flown kilted. I flew at Christmas time, but it was a flight and a mad dash from plane to do some serious lifting, moving, hauling and pretty dirty work. I will be flying last week of April and definitely kilted. As to sneers and odd looks, I could give a sh*t. I am who I am and why I like BOTK, people are not bound by convention, feel free to be themselves and don't care to keep up with the Joneses. Heck I ride a Segway and wear a kilt, I hear a lot of cracks.

i saw a guy in a utilikilt as well at Chicago's midway airport, he was in a hurry, and i was about to board, so i couldnt catch him.
got lots of compliments and questions about under the kilt at the nashville airport. and at the RDU airport, a guy did a double take, then said, "looking good", and i swear it was in a think (genuine scottish accent).
flying in a kilt is a must... much more comfortable when sitting in those narrow seats.

I always buzz going though the detector Hate that.
As for a belt I have a wide nylon tool belt so I do not have to fight with taking that off. Its bad enough with the shoes.

I'm flying out tomorrow, will be kilted, and expect to be checked out pretty heavily and not just
by the TSA.

The trip came up rather quickly. Was sent down to do some work in Mesa.

I'm glad you had a great time, Gopher, it sounds like you have completely embraced the joy of kilting.
Kilt ON!

I guess that it pays to wear the kilt!
BTW, not all of us are on the way out of town from Phoenix!

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. Author unknown.

Finally settled on wearing a USA Casual kilt to fly in...light weight, comfy, no metal. Take a short pin type kilt pin and take it off to go through security, put it back on once settled on board.
Like to wear a travel vest in lieu of a sporran. Worry that some one will count the sporran as a carry on bag. Can put the vest up in the overhead bin once on board.
Fly regimental for comfort of course.
Flying kilted is just common sense.

Being a CPAP user, I was more concerned with my machine (CPAP machines, being considered medical equipment, don't count against you as carry-on bag, but they are searched carefully). On the homeward leg, I had to remind the agent several times and loudly to wear new gloves (they are supposed to as policy, and have been trained accordingly--I know this).
The best part, though, was the look on the agent's face when my travel battery went through the scanner. She was YELLING for a supervisor, until I told the by-then three agents viewing the screen that it was a CPAP portable power supply--a gel-acid rechargeable battery.
Oh, but the kilt was so much more comfortable than tr**$er$!

Ha! That trumps my 2 bottles of Glenlivet that I got. Congratulations! It does pay to wear the kilt!
