I did a handle in black walnut a while back for my Southern Brutha From Anutha Mutha ( AKA Donnie of Wyvern Leatherworks ) as seen in this thread: CLICK ME and it was a hard thing to let go of, so I decided if given the opportunity, I would make one for me.
A store opened here locally called Classic Blades ( Classic Blades ) so I decided to check them out and found a blade I think will work quite nicely for my project. It is a Muela in 440C that can be seen on there Alcaraz models.

My next problem was to find a suitable hunk of timber that would make the blade look better than it already does....so I dug around in my shop and came up with a wicked hunk of black walnut burl to work with:

After I finish up some loose end projects to appease my wonderful customers, I finally get to make my dream dirk and sheath.
More to follow.

I just finished two sheaths for it, one is a heavy duty mahogany latigo, and a dark tan/ light brown. Now I just have to start hacking at the walnut.

I made two sheaths for it yesterday, a thick mahogany latigo, and a tan/light brown one. Today I shaped the handle and made a but cap from some blackwood. I know I should get a metal one, but I a partial to wood ya know. I am guesstimating that I should have a fully functional dirk by this weekend.

Just by complete happenstance, I happened to order a T shirt from a company today, and if you follow the link Dirk Link you will see they have a "Kiss My Dirk" (in Irish) T-Shirt. Might be a good fit. :P
