Desert Dpm

Recommended Posts

Well, I got the shipment of Desert DPM from our overseas connection that shall not be named.

I opened it up like a kid on Christmas when I got it home (BTW, I'm suprised I received it all all considering it was wrapped like a couple of Kilo's of Coke). I pulled it out and the very first thing that caught my eye was how loose the weave is. Not a good sign, as that is an indicater of what I confirmed next. The material is way thinner than what I'm used to working with and I really hope this isn't what our cousins across the pond are issued.

This almost seems like linen weight cotton. I could make some kick ass bed sheets and pillow cases but as a kilt, would be utter ****E.

I can send a sample to anyone who wanted one out of this along with a piece of material I normally use for comparison.

Which is what? A camo pattern?

Yup, it is the British pattern. It comes in woodland colors (I have one ) and desert colors (I want one).

TOGA!!TOGA!!!TOGA!!!!...uhh I have only been in a toga once....that I remember. Maybe if you used 16 yards of it it would be heavy enough? :P

Ihave a pair of pan%s , issue, and a jacket, Issue, and both seem to be OK.

I never grew out of camo when I retired.

I wear camo or olive green almost all of the time.

My DPM p@nt$ and Jacket are great.

I wonder what could have happened to the material?

Looks like the stuff that MIGHT go on the outside of a MOPP (Bio/chemical) suit. It's thin enough that it can be disposed of after used.

I don't know anything about making kilts, but what if you doubled the material.

Would that make it too heavy?

It seems like a shame to use it for pillowcases.

I thought of that for a second but realized it's too thin for that as the camo pattern on the bottom layer would show through to the top.

Kinda 3 D camo there huh.

Maybe that would work?

Like I said, I know nothing.........................about making kilts. I wish I did, then I could have more than I do now.
