Argyle Golf Knicker Socks As Kilt Hose

Recommended Posts

Also emailing with these folks to see how high their socks are.

$9 for an argyle.

Yes, they're in the women's section.

No, I'm not advocating "cross dressing". :nono:

The socks don't know if they're on a man's or a woman's foot. Hopefully they're long enough for my Size 13's and 18" calves, though.

I'm tired of wearing hiking socks with my kilts. Need a little more detail!

That's true. My wife wears men's socks because women's are too short for her (she's 6' and traditionally build)

and needs something that doesn't come in children's sizes.

I ordered these for me on the weekend: https://www.herrenau...e/91/91080.html

They are from Burlington and are definitely more expensive at € 48.

Awaiting too. They look great but I am wondering if there will be enough for a cuff at top.

Another option to consider is Soccer socks.

The cost is pretty much the same albeit a bit less and the supply (inventory) is a great deal better.

These come in a wide variety of colors - basically solid colors some with contrasting rings at the calf.

Better color co-ordination is had with solid color kilts.

They are for the most part the same length as kilt hose and hold up for wear about the same.

If worn all day I have found using the elastic band of a set of flashes worn without the flashes

useful in keeping the sox firmly in place on the calf.

I have a dislike for droopy sox unless worn with hiking type boots.

Also noted typical of the clothing industry there are sizes for men and then sizes for women.

My mens 9.5 converts to a womens 11 - so when shopping I have to look for the larger (XL)

to have the womens size fit when the mens sizes are out of stock.

also watching this thread, for updates

Another option to consider is Soccer socks.

Soccer sox are usually thick, in the "shoe area", too, which helps in the comfort arena.

Luckily, most of my tartans are dark greens, blacks, browns, which makes finding color matches in soccer sox easy.

A search for knee-length argyle socks on ebay turns up quite a variety, from totally unsuitable to the extremely good. Colours are fairly limited, bit I snagged a very nice pair of navy/crimson,dark green Burlingtons for $27au delivered from the UK. While I love some of the ones in the original post's link, I draw the line at paying $40 for shipping (I've had kilts delivered for that price)

My oldest son, who is into golf, orders from Golfknickers. I'll have to ask him how they are. I iknow he does look forward to getting the catalog so there must be something good about them.

The socks arrived on the weekend. Here a picture of them.

one addition. The price mentioned above is for 3 pairs, and not only one pair.
