Caddy Kilt Pin

Recommended Posts

Made this kilt pin from a Cadillac emblem necklace. Got a lot of comments the other night about a Caddy emblem as a kilt pin. Not what people were expecting to see on a kilt. Another example of a kilt pin made from something that was not intended to be a kilt pin.

Hehe, thought about doing it with the Volvo emblem, but figured everyone would think it was the man symbol that Austin Powers wears "Yeah baby!"

I would caution on this approach. It's a fine line between " cool" and cheesy.

Volvo would work because it is the symbol of Mars ( god and planet) and the alchemical symbol of iron. A very masculine symbol.

Others start leaning towards ghetto- wanna-be suburban kids that steal hood ornaments. Not a look to emulate whilst in a kilt.

The back of the emblem is not flat so I had to fill the depression to give me something to attach the pin. The depression was almost 1/4 inch. I found a scrap piece of zinc 1/4" square bar in my junk box. That allowed me to solder the pin to the bar. I then attached the bar/pin assembly to the emblem using JB Weld epoxy.
