Question About The Battle Of Worcester

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone has come across a list of the Scottish prisoners captured after the battle. I was researching my ancestor, John Bean, and came across a reference to his being captured at the Battle of Worcester. The reference went on to say that he arrived in Boston on February 24, 1652 along with 272 other Scottish prisoner from the battle to be sold as indentured workers. I am trying to confirm this reference, so if anyone can point me in the correct direction it would be great.

I've seen conflicting reports of between 8000-10,000 Scottish prisoners caught after the battle and deported to various places. That's a lot of names to try and track down from a very long time ago. Here is a link with information on the approx. 300 Prisoners sent to New England: http://www.barbsnow.net/ScotPrisoner.html

Thanks, Megs. It gives me a few more places to look. I have also managed to narrow down his possible Regiment because I know where Clan MacBain is from or at least the general area.
