I found this site last week and joined in order to find some like-minded folk who celebrate being Scots. I hope to start a trend here in the Magnolia State and increase the interest in Highland games and kilts. Living in Mississippi for 23 years, I am the pastor to two small Presbyterian churches in the North Central part of the state. We are transplants from South Carolina, where I was born. My genealogy includes Clan Hay and Clan Gunn sept Wilson. I hope to celebrate my Scots heritage by purchasing my first kilt in the near future, after I decide which clan to honor. I might just have to break down and purchase both!

Howdy from the Republic of Texas! Get it going, where your kilts proudly and often.

"Cultivated mind is the guardian genius of democracy and, while guided and controlled by virtue, the noblest attribute of man. It is the only dictator that freemen acknowledge and the only security that freemen desire." Mirabeau B. Lamar

Welcome from NE Oklahoma. Many of us here don't really have scots ancestry, I figured out that I did after joining, but still enjoy kilting. some of our merchants sell modern kilts, which is what I wear the most. First rule of kilt club, talk about kilt club. Second rule; kilt often, kilt well.

Thank you for the warm welcome! I am starting to look for the right kilt. Any suggestions for a starter? I probably need to be a bit money conscience, but want a quality kilt. Looking forward to hearing your ideas.

I would look into Stillwater kilts, their standard kilt is made of around 8yrds of heavy weight acrylic fabric, is well made, and is easy to care for. For $90 you really can't beat it...
