New Wood

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Just got my latest batch of wood back from processing plus a couple extra pieces. A sample of some of the wood:

Some walnut crouch. Wasn't sure it would turn out. Most black walnut is actually claro which won't stabilized -

Some bocote. Think it will make a nice day piece -

The main reason for sending the batch to processing, some kauri. I've go to say that this batch doesn't seem to be as good as the first one. Will have to see how it turns out when worked completely -

Now onto some of the wood I got from the processor. He has impeccable taste and has never disappointed. Here is some spalted maple burl. Awesome for hunters -

Here is some afzelia lay. I love the pattern in it -

And on to the pièce de résistance, some Honduras rosewood burl. Pretty rare and exceptionally gorgeous -

These are just quick sands and buffs. I am really looking forward to seeing them in use and fully finished.

Rosewood and black walnut are two of my favorite varieties. My parents house in Alaska we had custom made kitchen cabinets in black walnut and much of it had the natural blonde in it.so beautiful, wish I had pictures

The burl is fantastic!

My brother has a guitar body, made of burl maple.

Never quite know, what Mother nature is going to create.

Is it wrong for a man in a kilt to tell another kilted man that he has "beautiful wood!" And, being a friend of FJR1300, I've had the pleasure of seeing your work! All I can say is "beautiful!"
