Two Rothco Blankets = One Kilt

Recommended Posts

I just made a kilt using two wool blankets!

Also I did something different with the waistband:

Instead of using the material I made the kilt of for the waistband, I used carpet binding tape. This was inspired by a British military kilt I have.

First off.... excellent work!

Second, I have long suspected kilt wearing was a true addiction, this seals it for me..

A meth-head will cook up meth from cell phone batteries swimming pool acid and allergy tablets just to get a fix.

When the kiltie needs his fix, he gets desperate.... and in a panic sews his wife's two wool throws into a fine kilt.

Yup, it's a real addiction.

I've got a slew of WWI wool army blankets, they weigh a crap ton though so I'm thinking they are a bit heavy for a kilt

Grain, the WW2 & WW2 Gordon regimental kilts were a massive 22oz & they wear just fine. (I still have my Granda's). Come to think of it, they were a blanket weave back then rather than the common herringbone, so there's precedent...

It was an article about a WW1 kilt that gave me the idea. And my British Military kilt is the reason I tried carpet binding tape for the waist band.

Long over due up date. The thing is hot! I never wear it. I stick with my others. I'm planning a Great kilt now
