Recommended Posts

Hello everybody,
I made sgian dubh for everyday needs. I hope it looks traditionally.

It's not my first knife, but my first sgian dubh.
Total lenght 230 mm (9 inch)
Knife length 215 mm (8,5 inch)
Blade is from blacksmith Oleg Milovidov(Ukraine). The steel used is 52100, about 59 HRC, 100 x 28 x 4 mm (4 x 1,1 x 0,16 inch)

Bog oak handle and matching sheath with a carving, waxed finish, Baltic Amber pommel stone.

As someone who makes many accoutrements myself, Sgians and Dirks included, I congratulate you on your excellent piece. One question, where idd you source the amber stone? I've had a dickens of a time finding a source of suitable, larger oval cut stones of this type. Glass or real.

By the looks of it it could be Tigers Eye. Nice Work by The Way.

Thank you for your comments, I'm glad that you like it.

Regarding stone. It was one of two cufflinks. They are made of Baltic amber. They were popular in the USSR.
