  1. the USPS website shows my three favorite words today: "Out for Delivery" pics when I get it!
  2. Here are a couple pics from St. Patrick's day in Tulsa. I bought a Sport Kilt for Biggie and donated one of my old kilts to Corbin from the Big Mad Morning Show on 92.1 The Beat here in Tulsa. In this pic are me, Bryan ( co-owner of Green House Clothing) , Biggie from BMMS, the husband of a friend's daughter who's name escapes me, Josh ' The Beast ' Bryan ( runs The Factory here in tulsa ) and Corbin from BMMS. Here is the Beave, Corbin, Biggie and myself My kilt is my modified UT kilt in it's first full-blown day out. it performed flawlessly. I really loved the cell phone pocket, which is the perfect size for BotK cards. I got tons of compliments on the kilt, and a few free drinks!
  3. The kilt in question is this one on the website: http://www.utkilts.com/products/UT-Deluxe-Dark-Khaki-Utility-%7B47%7D-Modern--Kilt.html I was lucky enough to win a UT Modern Kilt in the first of the recent Free Crap Stuff Friday giveaways here on BoTK. After discussions with Brice I decided to upgrade to the Deluxe model and simply pay the difference. There was a small wait as my size was not in stock and given the timeframe with the holidays, etc. the wait was more than reasonable. Brice kept me in the loop and gave me frequent status updates through the whole process. The day the kilt arrived was a very wet and rainy day here in Western NY and the shipping box was pretty wet by the time I got home and retreived it from my front step. The kilt itself having been wrapped in plastic was perfectly dry and protected. I was very pleased with the weight of the material. It was heavier than I thought, but not too heavy. I would it's comparable to the outter layer of a Carhartt Jacket, though not as thick or stiff. I was finally able to wear the kilt on Dec. 31st and put it on first thing committed to wearing it no matter what the still wet and rainy day brought. The first thing we ended up doing was heading out to the shopping mall. Now I have worn other kilts to this particular mall previously and have never once received a comment. A couple snickers from teenagers maybe, but never a direct comment postive or otherwise. On this day I actually received several positive comments, my favorite from an older lady in a William Sonoma store who simply walked up behind me, put her hand on my shoulder and whispered in my ear "I appreciate a man in a kilt". I also got a comment from a 50's age gentleman who gave me a thumbs up and told my wife he wished his wife would let him get a kilt (Brice, I did refer him to UT Kilts but would have been great to have a business card to give him). Besides walking over the mall for several hours I also spent a good bit of time chopping and stacking firewood in the kilt. I found the kilt to be very comfortable with adequate pockets for my keys, cell phone, wallet, pocket knife, etc.and it fits well enough I didn't need or use a belt. Here are a couple pictures, sorry for the quality... Pleat shot: Right Hand Pocket: Left hand Pocket: I did not use either of the back pockets so I cannot speak to their functionality or size. So far I am very happy with this kilt and expect I'll be ordering another in the near future. That being said I do wish that there was a length option. I find the stock 23" drop to be a tad long for me and I would have like the option to choose the length.
  4. I received my kilt from Brice the other day and other than a quick try on to test the fit I have not had a chance to really wear it yet. I plan on putting it through the paces this weekend and will post a review and pictures ASAP.
  5. friday at about 4:00 pm CST I orderd a Deluxe Black Modern kilt from UT kilts. Monday at 3:00pm CST I have it IN MY HANDS!!! I am completely blown away by how fast this came in! The larger size fits ( albeit a little tight...but that is my fault ) The kilt is a little taller than I am used to for a modern kilt, with the top of the kilt at my navel but it is not a problem. I like the way it fits overall, and the pockets are sweet. I am going to be interested to see how the aprons handle weather without any snaps or whatnot like a utilikilt has to prevent the kilt from flying open. Pics when I can find my camera. It does look EXACTLY like the pics on the UT website, and the model could pass as me if he had a few more lbs on him and some tattoos. The only piece of criticism I have is the back pockets on my kilt are nearly useless. They are internal to the kilt, so are under the pleats. They look awesome and are ok for cash, cards or other very thin items. A regular wallet would be very hard to work with since the pocket opening is more or less sealed if the kilt is anything close to tight around the waist, which mine is. Good thing is the side pockets are more than ample to carry all my stuff, so there is no detraction of overall useability of the kilt. I'll be putting it through it's paces tonight.
