Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Got the barrel staves in. Most likely Highland Park or Macallan.

I bet they smell wonderful!

Were they not for crafting things I would use a few to smoke a pork roast!

Here winefolly.com/update/life-of-a-cask-from-wine-to-whiskey/ Is a neat chart showing the life of a highland park scotch cask. The ones highland park uses are oloroso sherry casks from southern spain. (The one drac sent me smells strongly of sherry after I cut and planed it)

Actually not much smell to them until you cut or sand. When turning the whiskey barrel pieces from the others it was really strong but faded quickly.
